We would like to introduce the band

Fat Tuesday is a seven piece band formed in Montreal in the summer of 2002. Taking their cue from groups like The Dirty Dozen and Rebirth, the focus is on good tunes and good times. The repertoire consists mostly of their own songs, as well as some Funk and Jazz classics. To keep it in the tradition (and to make it fonky) they have two drummers, one on bass drum and the other on snare. Add to that a driving sousaphone and a front line of trumpets, trombone and sax and you know you're gonna have some fun.

John Dodge- Sousaphone/Bandleader

John has his music degree from Concordia University, where he studied jazz and classical bass with Eric Lagace. He has played guitar and/or bass in many bands for the past 18 years, taking him to clubs and festivals around Eastern Canada and the States. He taught music at the high school level for five years and is co-operator of The Third Ear recording studio. John took up the sousaphone for the express purpose of forming a brass band. He is Fat Tuesday's composer and arranger.

David Carboneau- Trumpet

David has been with us since Mardi Gras 2006. He also plays with AfroDizz and many other groups around Montreal.

Sean Craig - Saxaphone

Born in Montreal, Sean spent most of his childhood in Vancouver. He began studying the piano at age seven but soon switched to the saxophone when he turned 12. He completed his high school studies with a concentration in music and spent one year at Capilano College in North Vancouver before moving to Montreal in 1996 to study at McGill University. Over the next 6 years Sean received both a B. Mus. and a M. Mus. in jazz performance from McGill. He has worked with many artists on stage as well as in the studio in a wide variety of styles. From a gospel event with Oliver Jones to recording with Montreal based contemporary jazz ensemble [iks], of which he is a regular member.

Guillaume Landry- Bass Drum

Guillaume Landry has been enthusiastic about playing drums for quite a few years now. He first started studying the instrument with Maurice Metayer, then with Yves Boivert at the cegep Marie-Victorin. His learning quest has also been helped by the drum studio and television monster Pierre Hebert with whom he studied at UQAM.
Moving on to playing with as many different bands as possible, he has been active on the montreal club scene with the "pharaon du rai à Montréal", algerian singer cheb Dino, for the past three years. Guillaume has been playing with with the up and coming world music band Syncop since october 2002. He`s also a member of Les voisins d`en dessous and is always on the lookout for some new and groovy stuff.

As long as people are dancing and enjoying is all that really matters after all!!!

Myra Camirand- Snare Drum

After finishing her music studies, Myra started her professional career as drummer, percussionist and singer with a tour of Quebec with the singer Eric Maheu. She then performed in a series of shows at the Casino in Montreal, including drumming for Claude Blanchard. She then went on to do the musical review "Viva Casino" in Hull. In 2004 she did a tour of Casinos in the U.S. with the group "Impact". She has performed with many different bands, with styles ranging through Rai, Country, Folk Rock, Progresive, Rock, Disco, Pop etc.. She has worked with many Singer-Songwriters, and recorded on two CD's - "Pragma" and "Hors Controle". Her many talents can be heard with the groups "Eaubansan", "Rythmexchange", "The Hot Mamas", "Insolita", "L’ usine des sons" and of course "The Fat Tuesday Brass Band".

Nicolas Therrien - Trombone

Nico has toured with The Planet Smashers, plays with too many bands around town to count, and is the goofiest dancer the band has ever had.

Andy King- Trumpet

Born in Regina, Saskatchewan, Andy King is a much sought after trumpeter. He completed a Bachelors degree in Jazz performance at McGill University in 2001. Since then, he has continued to perform in several jazz groups, revue shows, and studio settings. He has studied with such players as Jocelyn Couture, Kevin Dean, Chris McCann, Kenny Wheeler, Dave Liebman, and Jens Lindemann.
